warren p. sonoda: director/editor
email: warren@ruckusfilm.com

Warren P. Sonoda is one of Canada’s most successful and accomplished music video directors. With more than 100 videos under his belt it’s not surprising that Warren has some of the most highly rotated videos on MuchMusic, CMT, MTV, MTV Europe and VH-1. His distinctive style and incredible knack for creating memorable stories has earned him 15 national video nominations and a total of 6 wins (and counting).

Warren has also distinguished himself as one of Canada’s best editors with almost 200 videos in all genres of music as well as several television and DVD projects. (His editing on Jackalope’s “Feel It” video is nominated for 2005 MuchMusic Video Award and 3 of the 5 nominations for 2005 MMVA best hip hop video were edited by Warren.) He edited the feature film “Phil the Alien” which was featured at the 2004 Toronto Film Festival and was acquired by Lions Gate.

Speaking of features, Warren recently made his feature directorial debut with “Ham & Cheese” starring Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall, A Bug’s Life), Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall, The Larry Sanders Show) and Samantha Bee (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart). Variety calls it “a Must See” and The National Post says it’s “the funniest Canadian movie in recent history”.

While Warren has several feature projects in development and continues to be in high demand on Canadian music video projects, he looks forward to creating more memorable clips for artists in the US.
